Sikh community stages protest

SRINAGAR, Dec 19: The Sikh United Front (SUF) today staged a protest against the sacrilege incident that took place at Golden Temple in Amritsar while urging the Govt to bring in a law to prevent such incidents from happening in future.

Scores of people from the Sikh Community appeared in the Press Enclave and were seen raising slogans against the “elements” behind the incident at Golden Temple, and urging the Govt to act against the culprits involved.
“The emotions of Sikhs have been hurt. People from all the sections should come out to protest because it can be any religion to face such incident in the future,” Sant Pal Singh, President Gurdwara Prabhandak Committee, Budgam said, adding those involved in the sacrilege incident need to be hanged
Angad Singh Khalsa, a social activist pitched for bringing in a law to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
The protestor said that such incidents should not be encouraged and those involved should be punished sternly. “Such people are mentally motivated to carry out such acts and there is a need to deal with such people sternly,” they said.
