KATHUA, Mar 31: In charge Police Post, Marheen in Kathua district was seriously injured when the Police Gypsy in which he was travelling was hit by an unknown vehicle carrying the bovine animals at the link road Marheen near, here this evening.
As per reports, the police had laid a naka at the link road against the bovine smuggling this evening. In the meantime a fast driven unknown vehicle carrying bovines when asked by the police to stop for checking hit the Gypsy bearing registration number JK02U -1988 resulting in the serious injuries to in charge PP Marheen, SI, Vikas Sharma. He was first shifted to GMC Kathua where from doctors referred him GMC Jammu for special treatment.
Police has taken the cognizance of the matter and started investigation. However the driver along with vehicle fled from the spot. The gypsy was also badly damaged.
SSP Kathua, Ramesh Kotwal visited the GMC Kathua to see the condition of the Sub Inspector. He said the criminal fled from the spot taking the advantage of darkness. The police has started investigation and search of the vehicle and its driver.
