JAMMU, Nov 5: Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board Employees Union have threatened to go on indefinite strike if their demands are not conceded by the concerned authorities.
While addressing a press conference, here today, the Union president Raj Kumar alleged harassment of the Shrine Board employees, whose demands are not being conceded. “The Board was formed for serving the pilgrim but know it is working as a private company due to which the job of workers are in danger,” he said and strongly opposed absorption of retired employees against the vacant positions. Listing the demands, which include 50 percent reservation for children of the Safaikaramchari employees, free treatment facility to retired employees of the Shrine Board at Narayana Hospital, adequate bonus etc, Raj Kumar also demanded enhancement of TA.
He appealed the Lt Governor and new Chairman of the Shrine Board to take cognizance of their grievances and issue necessary orders for fulfilling of their demands. “If our demands are not conceded, we will have no option other than to go on indefinite strike and the Shrine Board will be responsible for the same,” warned the Union leader.
Raj Kumar, who was accompanied by the Union general secretary Parshotam Singh; Safai Karamchari Union president Diwan Chand and others, stressed that the Union should be given representation in the bi-annual meeting of the Shrine Board so that demands and issues of the employees may be effectively taken up before the concerned authorities.
The Union also resented the Board decision of giving its staff members bonus in the form of Rs one coins, weighting 10-15 kg.
