SHRC notice to DGP, IGP Traffic

JAMMU, Oct 9: Justice Bilal Nazki, Chairperson J&K State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) while taking suo motto cognizance of road accident of Ramban in which 22 people lost their lives and 13 others were injured, has issued notice to DGP of the State, IGP Traffic and Secretary Public Works Department.
The Chairman, SHRC has also asked them to file their response within six weeks.
The Commission observed that large number of road accidents took place in the State which take many lives. It said the reports suggest the accidents prima facie to be result of lack of supervision by the traffic authorities and also because of conditions of roads.
The Commission issued notice to DGP of State, IGP Traffic J&K, Secretary Public Works Department to file their response within six weeks.
The IGP Traffic J&K has also been directed to file complete data regarding accidents which have taken place in the State from January 1, this year till date by giving details of number of persons killed and injured.
