Show cause notice issued to striking GRS/Technical Assistants

SRINAGAR, June 8: Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj has issued show cause notice to striking Gram Rozgar Sevaks (GRS)/Technical Assistants in Kashmir.
“All those GRS/Technical Assistants engaged under MGNREGA in districts of Kashmir Division who have not resumed their duties till date are hereby asked to reply this show cause notice within three days to the concerned District Programme Coordinator MGNREGA (DDC)/Additional District Programme coordinator MGNREGA (ACD) as to why their wages for the period of absence should not be deducted and their engagement terminated, failing which it shall be presumed that they have nothing to say in their defence and action as warranted under rules/norms shall be taken by the concerned DPC,” reads the show cause notice issued to the striking GRS/Technical Assistants.
The notice mentioned that striking GRS/Technical Assistants in districts of Kashmir are not performing their duties which is in violation of the terms and conditions fixed for their engagements as laid down in their engagement orders. By refusing to perform their duties, they are causing hindrances/impendiments not only in the smooth functioning of the Department but also in the effective implementation of MGNREGA scheme in the UT, the show cause notice stated.
