Excelsior Correspondent JAMMU, Oct 27: Continuing their struggle for seeking early release of final selection list, which has been pending for the last 4 years, the shortlisted candidates for the post of Jail Warder in Department of Prison today staged a protest demonstration in support of their long pending demand. Led by Ashwani Kumar, the aggrieved candidates raised slogans against the Government and in support of their demand. They appealed the Principal Secretary Home and DG Prison to personally look into the matter for getting the pending list released. Reiterating their resolve to continue the agitation, the protesting candidates warned the Government not to test their patience and demanded release of the list as soon as possible. Ashwani Kumar informed that 41182 unemployed youth had applied for the post in 2005 and 1247 of them were shortlisted for the interview, which was held in the month of September 2010. However, even after more than four years, the final selection list is yet to be released, he added. The selected candidates urged the Chief Minister, MoS Home, Principal Secretary Home, and Director General Prison to personally look into the matter and release the list at an earliest. "No recruitment has taken place in the Department of Prison since 1995 and there are over 2000 vacancies, but the State Government is still delaying the final selection of the candidates," said protestors.
