Shortage of staff

Sir,
Refer news item ‘3000 students suffer as 18 Govt. polytechnics face shortage of staff DE Dec 26.
The shortage of staff in most of educational and technical institutions of the State is a matter that should concern the Government. In its bid to take education to door steps of people, the Government opened  a number of institutions in almost every district of the State. These institutions have however, failed  in achieving the objectives they were opened for. There are a number of reason that can be cited why they could not become fully functional and cater to the needs of student community. Some of these institutions are functioning in rented accommodation, which does not fully meet the requirements of an institution. Besides, shortage of staff has proved to be a bane of such institutions. There is acute shortage of qualified staff to provide quality education to the students. The shortage is due to slow recruitment process going on under the supervision of PSC and other recruitment agencies. There are complaints galore that the agencies do not take measures to expedite the process. At times,  the  Government takes recourse to adhocism.
This too has not met the needs of these educational institutions. Besides, departmental promotion are  also not taking place at a fast pace. The Government should therefore take measures to fill the vacant posts at a fast pace to overcome the shortage.
Yours etc…..
