Whether Indian Universities rank among reputed universities of the world or not does not matter much to us. However, educationists academicians and planners are aware of the fact that there is sufficient room for the universities to improve their standard. The research work conducted in our universities is not of standard quality as many factors come to the fore. These universities lack adequate finances to create infrastructure to meet the new educational challenges. Besides, many universities had come under severe criticism as these were not run professionally but as business centres to mint money. These institutions became Degree issuing centres rather than knowledge disseminating hubs. The slackness on part of monitoring agencies added to flourishing of these learning centres. Thus gradually the education system got derailed and affected quality education.
In this backdrop it is essential that monitoring agencies ensure that the universities who are on path of providing quality education be allowed to operate.
