JAMMU, May 10: Janta Dal United (JDU), president GM Shaheen today expressed grave concern over the alarming shortage of doctors in hospitals across Jammu and Kashmir, stating that the deteriorating condition of the healthcare sector has become a matter of serious public distress and administrative negligence.
Shaheen said that the absence of adequate medical staff in Government hospitals and healthcare institutions is pushing the common people towards immense suffering, particularly those belonging to economically weaker sections and remote areas who solely depend upon public healthcare facilities for treatment and emergency medical assistance.
He stated that patients are being forced to wait for hours without proper consultation, while in many hospitals critical departments continue to function under severe staff shortages. He added that the growing deficiency of doctors has badly affected patient care, emergency response, and medical services, thereby exposing the failure of the concerned authorities to manage the healthcare infrastructure effectively.
Shaheen appealed to the Health Department and concerned authorities to strengthen medical infrastructure, improve working conditions for doctors, and ensure accountability within the healthcare administration.
