JAMMU, Mar 26 : Adhering to the proposal of Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Department of Horticulture, Floriculture and Parks Priya Sethi to showcase Jammu in Bollywood movies and also highlight sacrifices of police personnel on silver screen to pave way for other producers, noted director Vidhu Vinod Chopra started shooting of his next film here, today.
Some scenes were shot in Mubarak Mandi Heritage Complex and at a migrant camp besides warehouse, Jammu.
Complimenting Bollywood Director on his endeavour, Priya Sethi said that this shooting will boost the confidence of other products as well as directors to shoot in beautiful locations of Jammu and also pave way for others to follow. Jammu, she said offers hundreds of destinations to film producers but this initiative will open up new vistas for them. Shooting in Jammu will not only be cheap for Bollywood but it is convenient also. Meantime the move will also promote the tourism in the State in a big way, she added.
Shooting of Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s film Love Letters from Kashmir started in beautiful locations of Jammu. Vidhu Vinod Chopra who hails from Jammu and Kashmir during his last visit to Jammu had assured the Minister that a part of his new movie will be shot in Jammu including Patnitop, Warehouse and migrant camps. Priya Sethi had specifically asked him to put Mubarak Mandi Complex in mind while drafting the script.
Today the Bollywood Director kept his word and date with Jammu. He also requested Tourism Minister Priya Sethi to visit the shooting site in Jammu to see how the City of Temples is projected in his new film. He was all praise for the Minister on whose instructions the support of local administration including the permission from Mubarak Mandi Jammu Heritage Society was granted immediately.
Keeping in view the logistic support and the virgin areas of Jammu Chopra assured the Minister that he will spread the message of hospitality of Jammu in Bollywood and more such initiatives will be taken by other producers. Priya Sethi wished him and his team a great success and appreciated him for introducing new faces in his next film.
State vice president BJP, Yudhvir Sethi was also present on the occasion. He said that BJP’s commitment to bring Jammu on tourism map of nation will be achieved by such initiatives. He also said that Dogra heritage sites will get boost by people visiting and shooting at such important monuments. He appreciated complimented the director and his contribution to this place.
