JAMMU, Nov 13: In connection with the 548th Prakash Parav of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, District Gurdwara Parbandhka Committees, Poonch and Udhampur, organised Shobha Yatra/ Nagar Kirtan in their respective district headquarters today.
In Poonch city, a grand and impressive Nagar Kirtan programme was organised under the guidance and supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh Ji of Dera Nangali Sahib. A large number of Sikh community members assembled at Gurdwara Singh Sabha Poonch and started impressive Shobha Yatra. A chariot was highly decorated carrying the Holy Book, Shri Guru Granth Sahib. This chariot was being driven/ pulled by the Sikh Sangat, which was chanting devotional songs and raising loud slogans in the praise of Great Guru and Khalsa Panth.
After passing through various markets of the city the Nagar Kirtan reached near Fort complex where several religious leaders addressed the gathering. Ragi Jathas from Amritsar, Jammu and Poonch were reciting the Gurvani Path and teachings of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Near College ground martial art/ Gatka was performed by Sikh youth and other participants which was main feature of attraction. The Shobha yatra concluded at the Gurdwara.
Members of DGPC and various Sikh bodies jointly organised the programme. A large number of members of the community from various parts of Poonch district attended the programme. In view of Gurpurab celebrations the local Gurdawaras were highly decorated by the devotees.
In Udhampur, Shri Gurudwara Parbandak Committee (SGPC) Udhampur organized a Nagar Kirten to celebrate the 547th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.
The religious procession began from Shri Gurudwara Singh Sabha, Mukherji Bazar Udhampur and culminated at the same place after passing through Mukherji Bazar, Ramnagar Chowk, Hospital Road, Talab Salliyan, Chabutra, Main Bazar, Gole Market and Dabbar Chowk.
A large number of men, women and children took part in the Nagar Kirten, during which famous Gatka team from Amritsar, Punjab, displayed skills of Gatka.
