JAMMU, Oct 7: Activists of Dogra Front & Shiv Sena here today under the leadership of their president Ashok Gupta staged a protest demonstration against Fire & Emergency Services selection list.
Addressing the protesters Gupta took strong exception to the alleged bungling and regional bias in selection of personnel in Fire and Emergency Services Department and sought an independent probe into the matter.
He said the selection list of Drivers and Firemen should be kept on hold till the conclusion of the enquiry.
“Selected candidates from Jammu are less than 10 per cent of the total selected candidates while more than 90 per cent candidates from Kashmir are selected in both the lists,” the Shiv Sena leader said, adding that the issue requires immediate intervention of the Lt Governor to order an independent probe into the entire selection process.
He also demanded stern legal action as per the law against all those behind this regional discrimination.
Gupta further said, the authorities have no explanation why merit was ignored and there was regional imbalance and discrimination in the list victimizing Jammu region.
It is pertinent to mention here that Department of Fire and Emergency Services started a recruitment process in the year 2013 and the exams of the recruitment process were conducted three times for the same posts.
“Third time departmental recruitment board conducted the exams on September 20, 2020 and result of the final selection was declared on October 3, 2020 which shocked many candidates as their names were not in the selection lists.
Gupta claimed that highly qualified candidates having PG and doctorate degrees were ignored but only 10th pass candidates were selected which is grave injustice with the qualified aspirants.
Ashish, Prem, Suresh, Fauji, Brij, Subhash, Karan, Abhishek, Prem, Bantu, Parkash, Geeta, Pradhan and others were also present in the protest.
