JAMMU, Oct 16: J&K Unit of Shiv Sena (UBT) is continuing its struggle against the prepaid electricity system in J&K.
In a press conference here today J&K Shiv Sena president, Manish Sahni urged the MLAs of BJP to raise their voice against the prepaid electricity system during the winter session of Assembly scheduled to start on October 23.
He said that the NC Government should fulfil its promise of 200 free units of electricity.
“J&K has immense water resources with an estimated hydropower potential of approximately 20,000 MW of which 16,475 MW has been identified and 3,540 MW is currently being generated,” the Shiv Sena leader maintained adding: “The peak demand for electricity in J&K is approximately 2,700 MW (1,100 MW in Jammu and 1,600 MW in Kashmir) and 1,856 MW hydropower project was recently approved at Sawalkot in Ramban district.”
He further said that instead of wasting money on smart meters and prepaid plans, public tax money should be spent on increasing power generation in J&K.
Vikas Bakshi, general secretary; Sanjeev Kohli, working president and Jasbir Singh, secretary Shiv Sena were also present in the press conference.
