JAMMU, Nov 9: Shiv Sena Bala Saheb Thackeray J&K unit has urged upon the people of J&K to boycott the upcoming District Development Council (DDC) elections till the restoration of Statehood to J&K and delimitation of Assembly seats is not held in the Union Territory.
Briefing media persons here today, Manish Sahni, J&K Shiv Sena president said Central Government’s coming up with new laws in J&K and conducting elections is beyond the understanding of public here.
He said that Prime Minister, Narendra Modi should fulfill his promise of restoration of Statehood to J&K and questioned the silence of J&K BJP on this matter.
Reacting to People’s Alliance of Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) for participating in DDC elections, Sahni said PAGD leaders cannot stay away from power for long and further added that PAGD leaders have nothing to do with public issues.
He said silence of Jammu leaders on delimitation is confusing the public and the forthcoming DDC elections are to divert attention from real issues.
Sahni said that history is witness that Jammu people never got their rights till they came on roads.
“If we will not take any concrete step to get our rights, coming generations will not forgive us,” he maintained. Shiv Sena general secretary, Vikas Bakshi; working president, Ashwani Gupta; secretary, Raj Singh and joint secretary, Raju Salaria were also present in press conference.
