JAMMU, Nov 1: Shiv Kumar Sharma has been re-elected as president of Water Works (PHE) Employees Association (Jammu province).
The election meeting of the association was held at the union office, at Company Bagh here on Wednesday in which the members unanimously elected Shiv Kumar Sharma as president for yet another term. While speaking on the occasion, Mr Sharma pledged that he will continue to serve the union with full devotion and dedication and promised that he will take up all the genuine demands of the PHE workers projected by Division presidents and others with the concerned authorities forcefully for their early redressal.
The trade union leader alleged that PHE daily wagers were not getting their salary regularly. He said two festivals Eid and Dussehra have gone but these employees did not get their wages and now the festival of Diwali is drawing nearer. He demanded that Government should release their pending wages before November 5. “It is unfortunate that from 9-16 months salary of these hapless workers was pending”, said Shiv Kumar Sharma.
He pointed out that many workers have completed 14 to 18 years in service but they are not yet regularized. He demanded that Government should devise a policy and strictly implement it as their career has been jeopardized. Mr Sharma demanded that out of the total listed 9317 daily wagers, the remaining 4412 should also be regularized.
