JAMMU, May 18: Chairman of the Damodhar Satri Udyog Sanstha (DSUS), Onkar Nath Chandra, has announced setting up of Sheela Devi Memorial scholarships for school going girl child from the current academic year.
Girls studying in class 1 to 12 would be eligible for earning the scholarship, which has been set up in the memory of Sheela Devi, co-chairperson of the Damodhar Satri Udyog Sanstha.
Sheela Devi had passed away after brief illness on April 28.
Elaborating on the aims and objectives behind setting up meritorious scholarship for the bright children, chairman of the Sanstha said, Damodhar Satri Udyog Sanstha under project PAHL is already engaged in the task of imparting education to street children and rag pickers.
At present around 300 street children, majority of them hailing from Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and other Naxal hit areas of Bihar and Orissa are enrolled for formal education in project PAHL.
The scholarships would be awarded to the needy children after thorough screening of the applications, the Chairman of the Damodhar Satri Udyog Sanstha announced.
