JAMMU Oct 21: Pt Ashok Kumar Khajuria additional press secretary & prabhari BJP Sharnarthi cell J&K termed the partial approval of package for PoJK refugees as an election stunt and expressed concern over the partial approval of package for PoJK Sharnarthis.
In a statement issued here, today said that after strong protest by BJP Sharnarthi Cell & other sister organisations working for the cause of PoJK sharnarthis & keeping in view the ensuing Assembly elections, the State Government approved package of Rs 9036 crore for one time settlement of PoJK sharnarthis which is quite insufficient in view rising index of the market.
He said the demand is of Rs 50 Lakh per family but State Governemnt is befooling the refugees by approving Rs25 Lakh per family after a gape of 67 years when price index has risen many fold. The State Government ignored other burning demands of PoJK sharnarthis which included, reservation of 8 Assembly seats out of 24 Assembly seats kept vacant for PoJK under the occupation of Pakistan,, setting up of Development Board for PoJK refugees of 1947, job reservation for the wards of refugees in J&K govt. departments.
He further said that Cong-NC ruled the State for over 6 decades but never bothered to address the sufferings of refuges but now after the change of guard at the Center, the Modi led BJP govt. took certain measures to redress the grievances of all communities including refugees of 1947, 1965 & 1971 which compelled the Cong-NC coalition in the State to pass the partial package for PoJK refugees. He said the successive State govts. in the State ditched the PoJK refugees for the last over 65 years for the one reason or the other.
