JAMMU, Jan 22: Spokesperson of J&K BJP Y V Sharma today sought a comprehensive economic package for Jammu region in the upcoming budget 2022-23.
“In view of its geographical and strategical position, the great loss incurred due to the closing down of many industrial and small scale units and huge losses suffered by various businesses during the second wave of Covid 19, the accumulation of interest on loans and debts, the cumulative electricity bills of the struggling/closed and sick industrial units, the Jammu region is in dire need of a special economic package,” said Sharma during an interactive session with prominent businessmen, industrialists and a large section of people from all walks of life.
During the session, which was held to know the expectations of the businessmen and other common masses from the budget 2022-23, speakers said that some stringent and draconian laws and notifications cancelling the lands allotted to industrial units, acquiring residential premises for developmental works, spreading panic and insecurity among the industrialists and the people in general, should be withdrawn forthwith.
In order to revive the economy of the Jammu region, Sharma also pinpointed the enhancement of facilities for warehouse, new markets and trading centres. He demanded more incentives, subsidies and loans and easy terms and market support for the local traders. He further said that the new industrial estate should also be established throughout the region.
Under the smart city projects for Jammu, sufficient new small sector locations should be established for providing employment to the people, he said and also emphasized on expediting tourism projects like River Tawi Front and Artificial Lake. Sharma also asserted on developing new tourism spots in Jammu with entertainment facilities and eat points.
