SAMBA, Dec 9: Senior Congress leader, Arun Sharma, today inaugurated construction work of lanes and drains in village Rattan Pur in Vijaypur Block.
The funds for the works, which amounts to Rs 1.5 lakh, has been released by MP Rajya Sabha, Ghulam Nabi Azad from his constituency Development Fund.
While speaking on the occasion, the Congress leader also took stock of problems being faced by the villagers. He interacted with the people and during a public meeting discussed various problems of the village.
The issues raised by the locals include black topping of main road from Chack Slarian to Rattan Pur, regular payment of pension to handicapped and widows and release of CAPD Sugar.
The Congress leader said that BJP-PDP Government in the State has totally failed to provide basic amenities to the people particularly border dewellers and appealed the people to support Congress party, which always helps poor and weaker sections of the people.
Baldev Raj, Dev Raj, Bhola Ram, Yash Paul, Sat Pal, Thoru Ram, Tarsem Lal, Gian Chand, Ashok Kumar, Lal Chand, Romesh Lal and many others were present on the occasion.
