TANGMARG, Apr 12: Addressing at back to back workers meetings in Ratapora, Kothpora, Zorupora Ramber and Hayatpora areas of Tangmarg today, National Conference MP and coalition candidate from Baramulla Lok Sabha seat Sharif-ud-Din Shariq said that Mehbooba Mufti had been a great disappointment in the Parliament during her tenure as she had remained either absent or silent in the Lok Sabha.
Mehbooba chose to stay silent when it was her duty to speak on behalf of the people who sent her to the Parliament, he alleged.
While speaking to workers in Tangmarg, Mr Shariq said that the same trait of irresponsibility was demonstrated by PDP in the Legislative Assembly as well as they wasted all opportunities to raise public issues and rather chose to enact dramas and dharnas inside the Assembly. PDP let down its voters by not allowing the house to function so that important issues could be debated on and addressed.
Speaking on the occasion, NC additional general secretary Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal said that PDP was brought into existence by BJP only to remove Article 370 so that BJP’s anti-Kashmir agenda could be fulfilled. In 1989 Mufti Mohammad Sayeed was made the Home Minister of India to ensure that the demand for Autonomy could be stifled and democratically elected Governments in J&K could be dislodged – a treachery that Mufti Sayeed did, he said.
Dr Kamaal said that it was the Dr Farooq Abdullah Government that came forward to start a phase of peace and reconstruction in 1996 and started rebuilding public and Government infrastructure in the State.
The meetings were also addressed by Advocate Showkat Ahmed Mir.
