JAMMU, Mar 20: People from all walks of life and farmers of Kandi belt availed the benefit of Kissan Mela organized by Agriculture, Horticulture and other allied departments with support of Master Sohan Lal Social Reforms and Charitable trust, Baba Kailakh Dev Mandir Prabandhak Committee and Grameen Civil Society on Sunday.
Former Minister and BJP State Vice President Sham Lal Sharma, former Minister Bali Bhagat alongwith Abhinav Sharma spokesperson, Shakti Dutt Sharma, Baba Chanchal Singh and other prominent people inaugurated the Kissan Mela.
Sham Lal Sharma after paying tributes to Master Sohan Lal Sharma on his 16th death anniversary, lauded the efforts of the trust. He emphasized that such camps will help the farmers to enhance their income.
Former MP Rajya Sabha, Shamsher Singh Manhas also highlighted the Government schemes for farmers of Jammu and Kashmir.
Chander Mohan Gupta, Mayor JMC hailed the efforts of Baba Kailakh Dev Prabandhak Committee for organizing such camp. He also reviewed the development project at Mandir premises which is being carried out with the funding of JMC.
On this occasion, volunteer donated 20 units of blood in the blood donation camp.
Arvind Baru, Chief Agriculture Officer, Agriculture Department said that farmers are getting benefit of Government schemes and such camps have made them aware about farming so that they can enhance their income by not depending on traditional farming.
Shakti Dutt Sharma, Chairman of the trust said that Late Master Sohan Lal highlighted the plights of farmers during his life and tried his best to resolve the issues pertaining to farmers of Kandi belt and other areas of Jammu and Kashmir. By supporting the farmers camp, it’s an effort to fulfill the dreams of farmer leader, he added.
On this occasion, Ram Pal Sharma, Sunil Dutt Raka, Chander Mohan Seth, Chander Mohan Sharma, Surinder Sharma, Baba Chanchal Singh, Rajat Soodan, Dr Varun Padha, Karan Sat Sharma among other were present.
People of the area availed the benefits of the services extended by Agriculture, Sheep Husbandry, Krishi Vigyan Kendra SUKAST, Soil Health sub division Marh, Florticulture, Social Forestry Range Akhnoor, Aadhaar Camp, Ayushman Bharat Camp, ICDS camp etc.
