REASI, Aug 22: Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today inaugurated two Water Supply Schemes in Katra; one each at Kakriyal and Manoon Chak Bhagata.
Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda also accompanied the Minister during his tour and inauguration ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister reiterated the resolve of the Government in providing clean drinking water to all the areas. He said after taking over, this Government has taken painstaking efforts in completing all schemes including those which were pending and were at various stages of completion.
Earlier, it was informed that completed at a total cost of Rs 3.44 crore, Kakriyal Lift Water Supply Scheme would supply 40,000 gallons water per day to over 4000 souls of Kakriyal, Kotla, Aikad, Nali Mohalla, Soukar Mora, Lamberdar Mohalla and other connecting areas.
Similarly Nalya-Chandwa scheme would supply drinking water to over 12000 souls of Nalya, Serli, Chamba, Manoon, Bhagta etc. This scheme was completed at a cost of Rs 3.52 crore.
The Minister in reference to Peerthi water supply scheme strictly directed the officers for its early completion. He further directed fresh surveys to identify uncovered habitations for ensuring uninterrupted water supply to the people of Katra sub-division.
He asked the officers to monitor works of all other major and minor water supply schemes of the district and ensure their completion at an earliest.
Ajay Nanda highlighted development works in Katra. He said that the Government believes in efficient groundwork as a tool to measure success of various Government interventions and schemes.
Among others SDM Katra, Neelam Khajuria, Chief Engineer PHE, Ashok Gandotra, Chief Engineer Irrigation and Flood Control, P.N. Bali, Tehsildar, Mohit Raina, Superintendent Engineers, Executive Officers and other officers of district administration were also present on the occasion.
