JAMMU, July 15: Former Minister and JKPCC senior vice-president Sham Lal Sharma today expressed his surprise over the hue and cry being raised on the killing of Burhan Wani who was a militant and had been carrying Rs 10 lakh on his head.
“Instead of expressing grief and resorting to protest, the people of Valley should celebrate killing of Burhan Wani, who was a terrorist and got the treatment he deserved for his acts of killing Police personnel, Sarpanchs and other innocent people of his own community,” he said while addressing monthly Block Congress Committee meeting of Chowki Choura Zone, here today.
Sham also took a dig on BJP Ministers and Legislators for being mute spectators and having no courage to speak about the sufferings of Amarnath Yatris. “The Amarnath Yatris are facing great difficulties due to volatile situation in the Valley and are stranded at various places at the mercy of God. The BJP leaders who consider themselves as champions of Hindus have turned a blind eye over this issue,” he said.
The Congress leader also drew attention towards security concerns of Kashmiri Pandits who are   employed in Kashmir valley under PM package and one of their transit accommodations was attacked by the stone pelting mob.
Sham alleged that during BJP-PDP Government, militancy in the Valley has increased more than 47 percent in the last one and half year and of late, the intensity of militant activities has increased many folds. “The Government in which BJP is an alliance partner, has demilitarized overtly. Consequently the terrorist got encouraged with this anti national step,” he said and added that possibility of the stone pelters, who were guaranteed amnesty on the eve of Eid, couldn’t be ruled out.
The Congress leader said that due to recent thunderstorm and heavy rains, several houses and crop in villages falling under Akhnoor constituency have been heavily damaged.  Expressing his concern over non restoration of power and water supply, affected due to storms,   he urged the concerned departments to undertake urgent repairs in war footing so that people may not face any further inconvenience.
