JAMMU, Nov 23: In connection with the Shahidi Purab of 9th Guru Teg Bahadur Ji Maharaj, a function was organised at Gurdwara Yagdar Sant Bhai Rocha Singh, Sector 14 Nanak Nagar under the supervision of Mahant Manjit Singh of Dera Nangali Sahib.
Several religious preachers and political personalities threw light on the life and sacrifice of Guru Teg Bahadur while addressing the gathering. Bhai Jagjit Singh Jeet Ragi of Golden Temple Amritsar, Bhai Surjit Singh, Khalsa Kathawachak and Kuldip Singh Chamak and Dr Surjit Singh recited the ‘Shabad Kirtan’ and delivered lecture on the life and history of great Guru.
Mahant Manjit Singh Ji while addressing Sangat on this occasion said that Guru Teg Bahadur Ji sacrificed life for the sake of country and Hinduism at Chandni Chowk Delhi against injustice done by then rulers of that time.
A resolution on this occasion was read by the Surjit Singh to declare holiday on Martyr Day of Guru Teg Bahadur Ji.
Other prominent who participated and addressed gathering included Paramjit Singh, Mohinder Singh, Jagjit Singh, Dr Surjit Singh and Capt Amar Singh. A community Langer was also arranged.
The new Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee was also announced by the Mahant Manjit Singh with Jagmohan Singh as its president, Harbhajan Singh and Ajeet Singh as vice president, Dr Surjit Singh Raina as general secretary, Kuldeep Singh Chamak as secretary while Harmeet Singh Raja as cashier. Jagjit Singh nominated as the Chairman of the Management Committee.
Meanwhile, similar function was held at Gurdwara Shri Guru Teg Bahadur at Omara Morh, Udhampur. Several religious preachers threw light on the role and sacrifice of this great Guru. DGPC Udhampur organized this programme which commenced with Akhand Path.
