BANIHAL, Nov 19: National Conference leader, Sajjad Shaheen, conducted four days extensive tour of Pogal, Maligam, Paristan, Parthihal, Panchal, Nowra, Khawrihal, Mundkhal, Kakerhal, Kunda, Hapaya, Thana, Marnhall, Bass, Gohala, and many other remote villages of the tehsil, addressed a series of public meetings and took stock of the problems faced by the inhabitants of these villages.
People from various sections of the society met Shaheen and apprised him about their day-to-day problems like shortage of drinking water and inadequate facilities of electricity, health care and education.
It was also informed to Shaheen that dozens of kanals of land besides some houses have been damaged due to construction of Shalgarh-Panchal road under PMGSY in Adhal, Nowra, Khwrihal and Panchal, and no compensation has been paid to the affected families so far.
Among other demands highlighted by the villagers were opening of Degree College at Ukharal, Primary Health Centre in Maligam and upgradation of High School, Pogal, HS Maligam, HS Senabati and HS Ramsoo, besides providing solar lights in the area and opening of medical dispensaries at Panchal, Senabati, Pingloga and Chunthan.
