JAMMU, Feb 24: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president, Amit Shah today distributed the first installment of PM Kissan Samman Yojna among the farmers of the State at a function held at Jammu Conventional Centre here, today.
The function was organized by State Agriculture Department in collaboration with allied Departments including Floriculture and Horticulture Departments. Among others the function was attended by Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh, MPs Jugal Kishore Sharma (LS), Shamsher Singh Manhas (RS) and Advisor to Governor , K Skandan.
The scheme was launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi at Gorkhpur in Eastern UP today who through video conferencing interacted with progressive farmers in different countries like UP, Bihar, Utrakhand, Kerala, Haryana, Orrisa, Bengal and Jaharkhand. The progressive farmers highly acclaimed the scheme saying that it will prove beneficial especially for small and marginal farmers and they will get rid of taking loans from private parties who charge high rate of interest.
They, while acknowledging the scheme said that various schemes launched by the BJP Government during last five years were all beneficial for farmers but PM’s Kissan Samman Yojna will prove highly beneficial to them.
The PM, who made the digital inauguration of the scheme said crores of famers have assembled during the launch of the scheme across the country today. He said this day will go down in the country’s history as a great scheme for the welfare of farming community was launched today.
He said the former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri had given the Mantra of “Jai Jawan -Jai Kissan” and BJP Government is implementing his Mantra. This Yojna has been started with the blessings of crores of farmers of the country, he added.
The Prime Minster transferred an amount of Rs 2.21 crore in the account of 1.1 lakh beneficiaries and in J&K around 71,000 farmers received their first installment of Fund Transfer orders in their accounts through DBT.
Narendra Modi said the Yojna was launched to ease the problems of farmers. He said besides the farmers those who are engaged in raring of cattle and fish will also get due benefit under the scheme. Prime Minister while highlighting his Government’s policies for farming community said, it has been decided to establish separate Fisheries Ministry in the country for the benefit of fishermen especially those living in coastal areas.
At Jammu, Union Minister, Dr Jitendra Singh while talking to reporters said each of PM’s public welfare programmes was based on sound logic and scientific research and never motivated by political considerations. That is why this Government does not indulge in loan waiver of farmers as UPA used to do on eve of elections, he added.
He said while PM Kissan Samman Yojna will offer stable economic system and respect to the farmers without extending any return, the loan waiver policy has always ended up in adding financial liabilities to farmers and giving them more frustration.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, while previous Governments mostly used farmer as a political tool for vote bank, Narendra Modi is first Prime Minister who has realized pain and hardship of the farmers. He said as far as J&K is concerned we have made a proposal to Union Home Ministry that PM Fasal Bhima Yojna should also cover the farmers whose crops are burnt due to cross border firing.
Later addressing the function Advisor to Governor, K Skandan underlined the importance of PM-Kissan Scheme and said that the revolutionary scheme aims to transform the lives of small and marginal farmers in India, by providing assured annual monetary support of Rs 6000 to farmers in three installments.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Ashwani Jojra, Assistant Project Officer.
MP Jugal Kishroe Sharma in his address informed that the benefit under the scheme will be directly transferred to the bank accounts of beneficiaries eliminating middlemen and corruption. It is truly an empowering project designed for ensuring dignified life for small and marginal farmers instead of one time loan waivers.
