Shabir visits flood affected areas; directs early assessment of losses

RAJOURI, Sept 9: Former Health Minister and MLA Rajouri, Shabir Ahmed Khan, who rushed from Dehli to Rajouri in the wake of incessant heavy rains and flash floods in the whole district and particularly in Rajouri Constituency, visited various flood affected areas and directed the concerned authorities to immediately start the assessment of the losses faced by the public.
On reaching Manjakote, firstly Khan inaugurated newly created administrative unit i.e Tehsil office Manjakote and congratulated Sunil Sharma for being the first Tehsildar in the Manjakote Tehsil. While addressing the gathering Khan said during these days when all the public are at sufferers end, as the non-stop heavy rain proved havoc for the whole State and for Rajouri district as well opening of Tehsil office is necessity.
The MLA said that people must understand the need and importance of newly created administrative units, as new creation shall reduce the burden on existing administrative and revenue officers, which in turn shall benefit the public.
Khan then visited the rain affected areas of Manjakote block including Dheri Dhara, Ghalutti, Dheriralyote, BG Gali, Haytpura along with the officers of Revenue, PDD, PHE and Health Department to take stock of the problems being faced by the public, where he observed that most of the areas were severely damaged due to heavy rains.
The flood victims apprised MLA Rajouri of their losses to which he assured that early relief and rehabilitation shall be started soon and directed the concerned authorities to immediately start the assessment of the losses faced by the public. He also directed to install machines for the clearance of roads so that people could get immediate relief.
