RAJOURI, June 18: Former Minister and JKPCC general secretary Shabir Ahmed Khan today visited village Khablan in Block Planger, Thannamandi area of Rajouri district where several houses have suffered damage in flash flood due to suspected cloud burst and hailstorm.
The Ex-MLA along with a team of local Sarpanch and senior leaders of Block Congress Committee visited the area to take stock of the situation and said that around a dozen families have been uprooted due to extensive damage to their houses and lands. He was accompanied by president BCC, Qayoom Mirza, Ex-Sarpanch Bhasharat Bhatti, Ch Bashir Zahir Choudhary and others.
Khan talked to senior officers in the administration and demanded immediate relief, rehabilitation and compensation to the affected families.
Shabir Khan regretted that till last evening no senior official of the administration had visited the affected families and there is strong wave of resentment in the area. It is unfortunate that the Government is not serious about the plight of badly affected people. He pleaded for adequate compensation to each family besides immediate relief and rehabilitation.
