Srinagar, Apr 3:Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar, V S Bhou, today directed police to ensure presence of former Health Minister, Shabir Ahmad Khan, in the court in connection with a molestation case filed against him by a lady doctor in February this year.
Police today filed a charge sheet in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Srinagar against Khan, and told the court that Khan didn’t cooperate with police. “Despite repeated calls to Khan, he didn’t cooperate”, police told court.
Sources said that Khan’s presence in the court was a must at the time of filing charge sheet but he was absent. The court has directed the DIG Rajouri and Jammu to ensure Khan’s presence in the CJM court on May 6, the next date of hearing.
The charge sheet against former Health Minister Shabir Ahmad Khan was filed under Sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of RPC in the court of CJM, Srinagar.
A lady doctor had accused Khan of sexual harassment at work place in February this year. In her complaint, the doctor claimed that the Minister called her to his office in Civil Secretariat on January 28 and tried to outrage her modesty. Khan had resigned from the Council of Ministers following the allegations.
The doctor has moved to Supreme Court against the anticipatory bail grated to Khan by a local court here. The SC has issued notice to Khan to file objections.
