JAMMU, May 27: Minister of State for Health, Shabir Ahmad Khan today underscored the need for providing hassle free treatment facilities to patients, stressing upon the administrative officers to bring complete transparency and accountability in the working of each section of the health institutions for convenience of the people.
Chairing monthly meeting of Health Services Jammu convened to review the physical and financial status of the health institutions, the Health Minister emphasized upon the concerned authorities that health care of the people is the top most priority of the Government and any negligence in this regard from the concerned functionaries would be viewed seriously for stern action. He stressed on the medicos and para-medicos to remain punctual to their duties and cautioned that any complaint in this regard would be taken seriously for stern action.
The Minister directed the concerned to ensure adequate arrangements of medicare facilities for Amarnath yatris at all important places and transit camps well in time. He also instructed purchase of essential drugs well in time stressing that no patient should face any inconvenience in the hospitals in this regard.
The Minister said that providing modern health care facilities to the people of the State tops the agenda of the Government. Infrastructure up gradation has been already initiated in the State especially in rural areas under flagship programme NRHM and State plan so that the people of rural areas would get improved health care facilities in their areas.
He instructed Chief Medical Officers to keep close vigil on the works being carried out in their districts besides frequently inspecting the functioning of the hospitals.
The Health Minister received an appraisal about the several programmes and policies initiated for up gradation of health care facilities in the province during the meeting.
Commissioner Secretary Health, Shaleen Kabra, Mission Director NRHM, Dr Yashpal Sharma, Director Health Services, Jammu, Dr. B. D. Sharma, Chief Medical Officers and Medical Superintendents of Jammu province were among others attended the meeting.
