Sexual assault case against Ronaldo reopened

LAV VEGAS, Oct 3: A 2009 sexual assault investigation case against Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo has been reopened by police in Las Vegas.
Kathryn Mayorga, 25 at that time, has alleged that she was attacked by the footballer in a hotel room in Vegas that year, reported BBC.
However, 33-year-old Juventus forward Ronaldo has dismissed the claim. Germany’s Der Spigel had first reported it as ‘fake news’.
Ronaldo’s representatives had said to take legal action against the magazine.
Mayorga had reportedly reached an out-of-court settlement with then Real Madrid Footballer in 2010, involving a $375,000 payment for never going public with the allegations.
Her lawyers are seeking to declare the non-disclosure agreement void.
“At the time the report was taken, the victim did not provide detectives with the location of the incident or suspect description,” a police statement said.
The statement further added, “As of September 2018, the case has been reopened and our detectives are following up on information being provided.” (UNI)
