Sex ratio in Budgam rises significantly under BBBP scheme

SRINAGAR, June 1: District Budgam in Central Kashmir has significantly succeeded in increasing the sex ratio in the State, where five other district have also been taken up under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ (BBBP) scheme to increase the sex ratio of girl child.
Addressing a publicity cum awareness programme titled ‘Mera Desh Badal Raha Hai – Aagay Badh Raha Hai’ in Budgam, Minister of State for Education, Technical Education, Culture, Tourism, Horticulture, Floriculture & Parks, Priya Sethi said that the initiatives of the NDA Government for the development of people have started bearing fruits.
She appreciated the efforts of the State administration to achieve the goals in centrally sponsored schemes. She said that it is encouraging to note that under ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ scheme of the Central Government, Budgam district has succeeded in increasing the sex ratio to a significant level of 967:1000.
The Minister said that six districts of the State have been taken up under the programme including Budgam where the Government is taking different initiatives to increase the sex ratio of girl child. Sethi said that Education Department under the Skilled India Scheme is trying to groom the girl child to be a job provider and not the job seekers.
She said that the State Government is committed to empower the women folk and the recent steps taken by Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti and the ten per cent reservation for the women in different sectors of entrepreneurship are some of the examples in this connection.
Lauding the role of Directorate of Field Publicity and other Media Units of Ministry of Information & Broadcasting for creating awareness about various centrally sponsored schemes among the people at grassroot level in connection with the achievements of the NDA Government during the last two years in office, she said that the initiative will definitely help in creating awareness among the general masses.
