UDHAMPUR, Aug 10: Thousands of inhabitants of village Konain and adjoining hamlets remained cut off from mainland for the second consecutive day following blockage of Ramnagar to Dhanwalta road due to landslide near Konain yesterday.
About 20 thousand villagers of Konain, Piala, Dhanbalat, Samna Banj, Blota and Dhanwalta are suffering because of the landslide and consequent blockage of the road, which is only surface link for them to Ramnagar mainland.
Alleging no action by the administration to clear the blockage and improve the road condition, locals of village Konain and adjoining area also held a protest demonstration today and raised slogans against the Government. “Dhanwalta bridge is lying damaged for the last one month and yesterday massive landslide blocked road near village Konain with the result that we are not able to move out while students are also suffering because of this,” they said
Meanwhile, Barmeen to Ghordi road also remained blocked for the third consecutive day today. The road was blocked on Tuesday due to massive landslide at Tringdi, near Barmeen.
