JAMMU, Feb 14: Several legislators today called on Governor N N Vohra and apprised him of various issues.
A delegation of the Ramnagar unit of Bhartiya Janta Party led by R.S. Pathania, MLA, Ramnagar, apprised the Governor about the various needs and demands of his Constituency, which included the opening of a Medical College and a Research Institute on Herbs and Ayurvedic medicines in Ramnagar; promotion of pilgrim and leisure tourism in Ramnagar and its surrounding areas; evolving a Master Plan for development of Ramnagar town; setting up Degree Colleges at Majalta and Basantgarh; steps for Mansar lake conservation and a Master Plan for its residential area and setting up Municipal Committees for Majalta, Basantgarh and Manwal.
He also urged the Governor for inclusion of ‘Gaddis’in Scheduled Tribe Advisory Board; revision of transportation fares, roll back in rates of electricity; and strengthening of health care system in his Constituency.
The Governor assured the Legislator to look into all the raised issues and urged him to continue sustained pursuit of development issues in his Constituency.
Mohd. Yusuf Bhat, MLA, Shopian, apprised the Governor about various issues which, interalia, concerned the rehabilitation of flood victims; strengthening of educational, health, roads, electricity and other basic amenities related infrastructure in his Constituency. He also discussed the to-date status of ongoing developmental and welfare schemes in his area.
The Governor urged him to continue sustained pursuit of development issues in his Constituency.
Jahangir Hussain Mir, Member Legislative Council apprised the Governor about various pending issues of Poonch district. These issues related to supply of ration; issuance of new ration cards on the basis of 2011 Census and re-issuance of ration cards which were destroyed in the recent floods; re-alignment of 132 KV Draba transmission line and strengthening of Government staff in various Government offices.
He also briefed the Governor about issues relating to construction of additional span of Sher-i- Kashmir bridge in Poonch; maintenance of Jammu-Poonch National Highway; rail connectivity for Poonch and Rajouri districts; road connectivity for remote areas; and upgradation of Chandak Mandi to Loran Sultan Pathri road. Mr. Mir also put forth demands relating to payment of compensation to the farmers whose lands are across the LoC; allotment of 5 marla housing plots for people living along the LoC; and compensation on account of losses due to September 2014 floods;

Syed Mohd. Rafiq Shah, MLC, accompanied by Mohd. Rashid Qureshi, former MLC apprised the Governor about demands relating to the conferment of Scheduled Tribe status to the Pahari Speaking People (PSP); extension of railway line to Rajouri-Poonch from Jammu and from Baramulla to Kupwara-Karnah; problems being faced by the students under PM’s scholarships scheme and their early resolution; Anganwadi Centres, schools and mobile schools for PSP, strengthening of basic infrastructural facilities in areas inhabited by PSP; early rehabilitation of flood affected people; promotion of tourism in Poonch, Rajouri, Uri, Kupwara, Keran, Jumakund etc.
The Governor assured the Legislator to look into all the raised issues and urged him to continue sustained pursuit of development issues.
