SRINAGAR, Oct 25: Maintaining that the Government has ensured overall development of the State by launching various developmental schemes, the Minister of State for Technical Education, Information and Power, Vikar Rasool today said that the people should come forward to avail maximum benefit of these welfare programmes.
The Minister was addressing a public gathering at Gund Hassi Bhat here today. Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil and senior officers of various departments and political leaders were present on the occasion.
Mr. Vikar said that it is recorded fact that the Government has undertaken several landmark initiatives for ensuring overall and sustained development of all the three regions of the State, which have no parallels in the annals of history. He said that a mechanism has already been put in place to ensure that these schemes are implemented in such a manner that the benefit reaches the targeted populace.
While expressing gratitude to the Central Government for its wholehearted co-operation in ensuring the development of the State, the Minister said it has been generous enough to extend certain schemes to the Jammu and Kashmir which have been instrumental in changing the socio-economic profile of the people of the State. He said that proper connectivity to various remote areas has also been ensured which have accelerated the developmental activities in those areas.
The Minister asked the people to come forward and avail maximum benefit of various welfare initiatives maintaining that by doing so they would be exhibiting participatory role in their implementation, which forms the basis of a democratic set up.
Responding to the demands of the locals, the Minister assured that the power system would be augmented by installation of electric poles, street lights and other related facilities.
Former Minister Abdul Gani Vakil also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the developmental initiatives undertaken by the Coalition Government.
