MENDHAR, June 7: The police rescued the locked and injured family members and removed them to hospital after they were allegedly attacked by the members of rival group in Gursai area last night.
Reports said that there was old land dispute over a piece of land measuring 64 kanals at Kayot in Gursai. This land was under the possession of one Imtiaz Hussain Shah since long. The members of the rival group of Rafiq Choudhary (a police officer) and his brothers Hav Abdul Rehman and Abdul Aziz raised a structure on the disputed land which they claimed, they had purchased long back.
During last mid night, the members of Abdul Rehman and his brothers allegedly entered the house of Imtiaz and allegedly beat up the members and locked them from outside. The police party from Gursai during the day came to know about the matter but the members could not be rescued. Their relatives then took up the matter with the SDPO and ADC, and then the police party led by SDPO and assisted by Tehsildar Mendhar rescued these locked and injured members including one year old child. The injured were removed to hospital. Three injured admitted in hospital have been identified as Ghulam Fatima (55), wife of Lt Rashid Hussain, Mukhtar Hussain and Iftikhar Hussain both sons.
Additional DC Poonch also reached the town in the evening and held meeting with the police and civil officers. He directed the police to register an FIR and asked Tehsildar to initiate an inquiry in to the matter.
