Settle all issues of PHE workers: Suri

JAMMU, Feb 14: Expressing shock over the death of a Public Health Engineering (PHE) daily wager who was protesting in cold weather in Rajouri and showing concern over extension of ongoing strike by PHE staff, Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) J&K Executive Member, Raman Suri urged the UT administration to adequately compensate the family of deceased and sort out issues of these striking workers who are running the water supplies since past several years.
He said that the extension of ongoing strike by PHE workers has already resulted in poor supply of potable water in Jammu, adding that the matter should immediately be resolved so that people get regular water and issues of these workers are also addressed amicably.
Suri said since 22,000 daily wagers had been running water supply schemes in Jammu city and its peripheries without any flaw, their demands seem to be just and genuine. This is a big number of workers who had been running water supply since past over two decades without getting their services regularised. This is an issue that needs to be looked into compassionately.
