Sethi asks SASB to ensure all facilities to yatris

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 5: A delegation of BJP workers led by Jammu-Poonch Parliamentary Constituency Incharge & BJYM State Prabhari Yudhvir Sethi visited Amarnath Yatra base camp at Bhagwati Nagar on the request of the local people. The local people had complained that the staff of the Shrine Board is harassing the yatris without any reason and this in the result causes inconvenience and hardships to the local inhabitants as well apart from creating a feeling of religious outrage on this account.
The delegation received complaints from the yatris who alleged that for registration they are made to cough out Rs 500 to 1000 by the registration staff and are otherwise also very shabbily and rudely dealt with. The police personnel on duty at the Yatri Bhawan generally hail from the Valley and who exhibit disdainful attitude to one and all. There is no traffic management around the Yatri Bhawan and on its connecting roads and on the National Highway where devotees get held up for hours to together. Taking stock of the arrangements at the Yatri Bhawan and at other base camps, it was found that either there were no toilet facilities or wherever existing were not properly maintained and were stinking and smelling foul. There were no adequate arrangements to clean and maintain the civic facilities at the Yatri Bhawan and its surroundings.
Addressing the delegates, Sethi said that the administration and the Shrine Board,  seems, have a bias against the yatris and want to put hurdles in the yatra to please the Valley people.
Shri Amarnath Yatra is a symbol of secular ethos of the entire State and every right thinking person, of whatever religious denomination, desires a robust and well attended yatra takes place every year as had been happening since times immemorial.
He said that no power on earth can stop the yatra and BJP will ensure that the same is undertaken by devotees every year with full gusto and vigour and demanded that Governor should take personal interest in the yatra and closely supervise the yatra arrangement at Yatri Bhawan and elsewhere.
Sanjay Khanna, Iqbal Singh, Govind Sareen, Bhanu Pratap Jasrotia, Ashish Sareen, Rinku Choudhary, Mohan Lal, Rashpal Sharma, Manmohan, Ashwani and others accompanied him to Yatri Niwas.
