Set up Gen Category Commission, provide 20 % quota: GCPF

JAMMU, Feb 24: General Category Peoples’ Front (GCPF), J&K has demanded setting up of General Category Commission and provide 20 % quota to `Swarn castes’ in J&K UT..
In a meeting of the Front held here today under the chairmanship of Raj Kumar Banathia, the Chairman of the Front, the participants deliberated upon the socio-economic and political policies of the Government.
Addressing the meeting, Prof Yash Paul Sanson, president lauded the judgment of the High Court of Madhaya Pradesh delivered in a petition filed against 27% OBC reservation in the Govt jobs filed by Neharika Tripati of Behatun and Kapil Saxena, hailing from Guna. The Court has said that reservation to OBC in jobs cannot exceed more than 14 percent.
He alleged that all the successive Governments as well as present Government of India have been making people of India fight against another through their discriminatory socio-economic and political policies based on caste, class and religion playing divisive vote bank policies. General Category majority have been bearing brunt of the discriminatory, prejudiced and biased policies of the present government.
Som Nath Sharma, general secretary said that JK UT administration has failed to provide justice and necessary amenities including electricity, water supply, road connectivity and health facilities to people. UT administration has been harassing middle class, employees and pensioners in the name of transparency and good governance. He quoted an example of Medical allowance of employees and pensioners who got no hike in Medical allowance for last 20 years. Whereas, there is 100 % hike in prices, fees, service charges, tolls, fines etc.
He alleged that LG administration has created chaos, confusion in its decisions which lead to strong resentment among people. He demanded urgent steps to resolve key issues. He also demanded 20% reservation for `Swarn castes’ out of general category quota.
VK Sharma, vice president asserted that due to LG administration, the ruling party will have to pay heavy price.
A resolution was also unanimously passed demanding setting up of General Category Commission (GCC) to assess the socio-economic and political status of GCP. Individual income of a Brahmin is the lowest in the country today because of Government apathy towards Swarn Caste majority.
Front exhorted General Category people to come forward to safeguard their own rights and interests. Time has come to fight politically for the rights of the poor and economically weaker families. Among those who were present in the meeting include Dr Bansi Lal, Deepak Khajuria, Bhushan Pargal, Gopal Dass Verma, Suridner Kumar and KK Sharma.
