JAMMU, Feb 24: J&K Pradesh Youth Congress President (JKPYC), Uday Bhanu Chib today flagged off UT level Silambam team for participation in upcoming Sub-Junior and Senior men and women Silambam Championship scheduled to be held at Kanyakumari (Tamil Naidu) from March 2 to 5.
Speaking on the occasion, Uday Chib said that sport is must for overall personality development of every individual. He asserted that it’s not just your body that benefits from sports but playing sports contributes to mental health, helping to prevent depression and increase self-esteem and body image.
The PYC president said that there is dire need to promote sports activities not only for a healthy citizenry but more than that to divert the youth from the path of indulging in drug related activities.
The youth leader appealed to the children and youth of Jammu and Kashmir to make sports part of their routine so that the nation is ensured a healthy citizenry.
