SRINAGAR, June 2: Demanding revocation order which permits non-state subject bidders to encroach upon the legitimate concern of the local, lone Communist Party of India (M) Member Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said a House Committee be set up to examine this controversial SRO.
Raising the issue in the Legislative Assembly today Mr Tarigami demanded revocation of SRO 105, which permits non-state subject bidders to encroach upon the legitimate concerns of the locals.
He demanded constitution of House Committee to examine this controversial SRO, by virtue of which royalty on stone quarrying has been increased and the non-state subject bidders have been allowed to participate in bidding for mineral excavation in our State.
The provisions of this SRO are not in the interests of public and are bound to escalate construction costs, he alleged and said further the outside big contractors will get the entry which will grossly undermine the interests of the locals.
This SRO is bound to deprive livelihood of thousands of labourers associated with quarrying and construction activities.
He demanded constitution of a House committee to examine this. Several other members from all the regions cutting across the party lines also supported this legitimate demand.
