JAMMU, June 9: In order to extend immediate support to impacted families in the recent floods that severely hit the Dharam Kund region of Ramban district, Sunrise Educational Trust (SET) today distributed essential relief material among those families.
The team distributed school kits, shoes, sweaters, stationery items to children in the area, many of whom had lost their belongings in the floodwaters.
The initiative aimed to bring comfort and hope to children as they resume their education amidst ongoing recovery.
During the visit, SET team members Supriya Sharma, Bal Krishan, Neena Kumari, Khursheed and Kirna Devi met with affected families, listened to their challenges and assessed the damage to homes and basic infrastructure.
Many houses were found completely destroyed or structurally unsafe, with families forced to seek temporary shelter.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajesh Sharma, founder trustee of SET said, “Seeing the condition of families and children firsthand was heartbreaking. We are committed to continuing our support and ensuring children’s education and basic needs.”
He also assured the community that further help would be mobilized in the coming days, including support for rebuilding efforts, counseling for affected children.
The Trust called upon the public, local administration and corporate partners to join hands in providing long-term relief and rehabilitation for the people of Dharam Kund and surrounding area.
