60,000 personnel in different wings of armed forces retire every year and out of this number 44 per cent are in the age group of 40-50. Many are in still lower age group. This is a vast but not ordinary manpower. They are the most disciplined personnel who have gone through a rigorous life of training and services in harsh conditions. In totality they are highly disciplined personnel whose service bears the mark of honesty, dedication and discipline. The Defence Minister has appealed the corporate house to take these retired ex-servicemen into their organizations to increase the efficiency and work culture. We think that the Indian corporate should volunteer to formulate procedures for providing employment to these personnel at different posts and works in their respective industry. As they are retired personnel from armed forces they do not require police verification and history of their previous services Each corporate house can find space to accommodate them with twin benefit of providing employment to the retired personnel and at the same building a disciplined work force which can render meritorious service to the corporate houses.
In facet there is a moral aspect to the case also. These ex-servicemen have rendered service to the nation in various capacities including risking their lives at many occasions during active service. They deserve to be shown special regard and respect and providing them post retirement employment for which they are physically and mentally fit should be considered a sacred duty. Actually this idea has come from the Defence Minister when he was attending a function somewhere in Amritsar sector. We are hopeful that corporate houses will heed the appeal made by the Defence Minister and contribute their share in the building of this society.
