JAMMU, Nov 28: Miran Sahib police arrested a ‘Serial Groom’, who happens to be an army jawan, for fraudulently marrying 3 women over the course of 6 years, having not actually divorced any of his wives before piling on more.
As per police sources, an army jawan identified as Raj Kumar alias Raja, son of Rama, a resident of Nehalpur Simbal, Tinday Kalan Simbal, presently posted at 9 Defence Service Course (DSC) Leh married a poor girl Reshma (name changed) of Miran Sahib around six years back and started demanding dowry. The woman gave birth to a child and the accused deserted her without giving his whereabouts.
Later, the accused trapped another girl Sushma (name changed) of Domail, Jhajjar Kotli and solemnized marriage with her. When the lady delivered a baby, the accused also abandoned her and shifted to some unknown place.
During search for their husband, both the ladies hailing from Miran Sahib and Jhajjar Kotli came to know that Raj Kumar had fraudulently married both of them.
Both the women lodged complaint with Miran Sahib police station in the month of April this year against the accused Raj Kumar by stating that the man had married both of them falsely and had left them after they become mothers.
Acting over the complaint, police launched manhunt to trace the man.
As both the women were not having any clue about the man as he had taken away the marriage albums and other proofs with him, it was quite difficult for the police to trace him out. But police continued its search and finally nabbed the person from Bishnah by tracing his mobile location.
When the police team reached Bishnah to arrest the accused, it came to fore that the man had solemnized third marriage with the girl from Bishnah and may be was about to flee from there also as the lady had delivered a baby just 21 days back.
Getting inputs about his whereabouts, police team from Miran Sahib police station conducted raid in Janipur area and nabbed the accused.
As per modus operandi, the accused targetted the girls belonging to poor background and after solemnizing marriages with them and satisfying his lust, deserted them without giving them his proper whereabouts. To hide his identity, the accused had destroyed all the albums showing his marriage with the different girls.
A case under FIR Number 46/15 under Section 420, 494 and 498-A RPC has been registered against the accused. More marriages of the cheater can not be ruled out yet as investigating is going on.
Police team led by SHO Miran Sahib police station SI Hilal Azhar nabbed the ‘Serial Groom’ under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura Harjeet Singh, SP Headquarters Randheer Singh and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
