Separatists disallowed to attend Pak HC function

Srinagar, Mar 22: Authorities here disallowed separatist leaders to leave for New Delhi to attend scheduled ‘Pakistan Day’ function at the office of its High Commission by detaining them either in police stations or at their respective residences.
A spokesman of hardline Hurriyat Conference faction said its chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani and other separatist leaders have been invited by Pakistan High Commission for ‘Pakistan Day’ function on March 23.
“However State authorities didn’t allow leaders to attend the event…Geelani continues to be under house arrest and besides Shabir Ahmad Shah, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, Ayaz Akbar, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Raja Meraj-u-Din, Mohammad Ashraf Laya and Omer Adil Dar were placed under house arrest or lodged in police stations,” he said.
The spokesman said amalgam’s senior leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan was arrested at Srinagar International Airport today morning he was scheduled to leave for New Delhi.  The Hurriyat said though attending ‘Pakistan Day’ function at New Delhi is a routine for them but termed authorities’ break on this year ‘strange and uncalled’.
