SAMBA, Dec 10: A workshop on digital financial awareness and inclusion was organised here today under Common Service Centres Scheme, Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.
The workshop was attended by District Development Commissioner, Sheetal Nanda, Additional District Development Commissioner, Vivek Sharma, ADC Pawan Sharma, Bank Managers, District Officers besides Bank Correspondents.
During the workshop, the experts from CSC apprised participants of various modes of cashless transactions like Aadhaar Based Payment System, USSD, e-wallet, Card System, Point of Sale and Unified Payments Interface (UPI) .They urged upon the participants to get themselves acquainted with these modes and avail their benefits. They also clarified doubts about issues pertaining to failed transactions, mobile number updates, ABPS and POS.
The DDC directed officials to organise similar awareness sessions at block and panchayat level.
Later, the DDC chaired a meeting of bankers and district officers held to review the progress and performance of bankers in key areas relating to deposits, advances and priority sector lending for the quarter ending September 2016.
The Lead Bank Manager, Veerji Koul gave a detailed account of the performance of banks during the quarter under priority sectors, deposits and advances.
It was informed that the deposit and advances of banks as on ending September 2016 stood at Rs.310554 lakh and Rs.142188 lakh respectively thus achieving a CD ratio of 45.78%. It was also revealed that 290 awareness camps have been organized by banks in rural and urban areas of the district. The DDC emphasized strict adherence to RBI guidelines for disbursement of advances among the beneficiaries under priority sectors.
She also directed the departments to send their cases through district coordinator of banks and keep a proper follow loan recovery cases sponsored by them.
Chief Planning Officer, Jasbir Singh, LDO RBI Abhilasha Diwakar, DDM NABARD, Surinder Singh, GM DIC Varinder Kumar Manyal, bankers and heads of various departments attended the meeting.
