JAMMU, Dec 10: To promote traditional culture of the State, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan (BLSKS) staged 133th musical play “Ladli Beti” in collaboration with Sangam Tru Art Production (STAP) at village Sabar (Basoli), district Kathua.
The programe was inaugurated by the chief guest Mrs S R Sharma, Principal, Government High School, Sabar. Rakesh Kumar, Lekh Raj, senior teachers were the guests of honour.
Earlier addition to the above programe STAP also organized special 15 days campaign on “Beti Bachao, Beti Padao” in special coordination with Song and Drama Division Ministry of Information & Broadcasting GOI and Office of the ICDS Depertment of J&K in indentified block of Basoli at Government Model Hr Sec School, Basoli. The programe was inaugurated by Pawan Kumar Sharma, Principal of the school and Suresh Kumar Sharma, Lecturer, Vijay Kumar, Senior Teacher, Dharmveer Sharma with Anganwadi, teachers and workers, children and general Public also witnessed the programe which was highly appreciated by the audience.
In addition the artiste of STAP & BLSKS also covered the villages like Sabar, Nagrota Prehta, Plai Mandala, Rehen and Mara Patti. Speaking on the occasion, chief guest lauding the role of STAP and BLAKS underlined the importance of staging such plays in all parts of the State to generate awareness among the masses about various social evils through theatre/drama which are still very powerful medium of communication. Pawan Kumar Sharma, Principal, also speak on the subject and urged the artists/cultural organizations to contribute in enriching awareness of the cultural heritage of the country and inspiring the younger generation to follow the footprints of their elders in preserving the composite culture of the Nation.
“Ladi Beti- (Beti Bachao- Beti Padhao)” Musical play written, produced and directed by M L Dogra (Chairman BLSKS) reflects the agony of two conservative families who are bent upon getting their daughter and son married at tender age, ignoring the advice of intellectuals of the society. The marriage turns into a disaster making the life of both bride & groom miserable. Even bride ends her life owing to pangs of pregnancy at childhood after delivery of a dead baby. The cries of baby girl in womb of the mother caution all of us in the society , “Don’t kill me. I will be your helping hand in old age”.
The programme commenced with welcome song presented by the artists of BLSKS and lighting of traditional lamp by the chief guest / guest of honors. Welcoming the dignitaries Chairman, BLSKS highlighted various aspects of play.
The singers, musician and actors who performed were Usha Handoo, Hem Raj, MC Kotwal, Gauri Lal, Raju Bajgal, K K Joshi, Kumla, Rajni, Ali Mohd, Babu Din, Kuldeep Raj, Sunil Kumar and Deepak Kumar. The programme coordinator K K Joshi presented vote of thanks.
