KATHUA, May 29: The five-day training and sensitization programme on Soil Health Management and Exotic Crop Cultivation, organized by Rapture Biotech, Jammu & Kashmir, in collaboration with the Jammu & Kashmir Science, Technology and Innovation Council (JKSTIC), Department of Science and Technology, concluded today at the Industrial Biotech Park, Kathua.
The programme was conducted from 25th to 29th May, 2026 with the objective of enhancing farmers’ knowledge and skills in scientific soil management, integrated nutrient management, sustainable agriculture, and the cultivation of exotic vegetable crops for improved productivity and income generation.
During the five-day programme, farmers from various villages of Kathua district actively participated in technical sessions, practical demonstrations, laboratory visits, and interactive discussions conducted by experts. The participants gained valuable insights into soil testing, soil fertility management, integrated nutrient management, organic farming practices, and the cultivation of high-value exotic vegetable crops.
Addressing the participants during the valedictory session, Ambika Slathia, Director, Rapture Biotech, J&K, emphasized the importance of adopting scientific farming practices, improving soil health, and utilizing scientific knowledge for achieving sustainable agricultural development and enhanced farm productivity.
As part of the valedictory ceremony, participation certificates were distributed among all trainees. Soil Health Cards were also provided to the participants to enable them to better understand the fertility status of their soils and make informed decisions regarding nutrient management. To promote organic and sustainable farming practices, each participant was provided with 5 kilograms of organic compost along with exotic vegetable seeds for cultivation and field-level demonstrations.
