JAMMU, Oct 7: As a part of the nationwide process of implementation of National Population Registration (NPR) and Biometric Enrollment Plan, the district administration Jammu in collaboration with Department of Census conducted a day long sensitization cum awareness programme for officers/officials of Education, Revenue and JMC at Government Polytechnic College Bikram Chowk here today.
District Magistrate Jammu Simrandeep Singh, who is also District Registrar was also present on the occasion.
The programme was mainly focused on to cover the left out students of Primary, Middle, High and Higher Secondary schools in Jammu district under biometric enrollment plan.
District Magistrate briefed in detail about the system of biometric enrollment at individual level by collecting specific information of each through Aadhar number. He said that this number is linked to many vital and basic services of our daily uses and the same would be mandatory in the coming days in order to enjoy and avail benefits of welfare schemes launched by the government. He asked the Education authorities to work with dedication and commitment to enroll major chunk of students so that the set targets are achieved in a stipulated time frame.
On the occasion, Joint Director Census J&K, C. S Saproo through his power point presentation explained in detail the different aspects of National Population Registration and Biometric Enrollment plan. He stressed for organizing extensive drives and publicity campaigns on the Biometric Enrollment in the Government as well as private educational institutions to ensure maximum biometric enrollment of left out students. He asked the Principals, tehsildars and other concerned authorities to work in a mission mode to complete the process.
ADC Jammu, Joint Commissioner JMC, Controlling Officer Census J&K, Deputy Director Census J&K, Chief Education officer, Deputy CEO, Tehsildars of Jammu district, Principals, Zonal Education Officers attended the programme.
