JAMMU, Nov 19: Two day sensitization programme on Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 concluded at State Judicial Academy here today.
With an aim to strengthen the judicial and administrative institutions and to improve skills and efficacy of judicial system, State Judicial Academy had organised 2- day sensitization program for all the stakeholders of the justice delivery system.
The event was attended by former Judge High Court J&K, Justice (Retd) Hasnain Masoodi, Director State Judicial Academy, Ab Rashid Malik, Advocate, Mehmood Pracha, Presiding Officer, Ashok Koul,Food Safety Appellate Tribunal, Chief Judicial Magistrates and other concerned officers.
Speaking on the theme of the programme on the occassion, Justice Hasnain said that all the concerned officers are directed to perform their role to every extent for the implementation of the Act. He said that increasing use of injecting hormone and steroids make veggies and fruits very harmful and cause health hazards which need to be curbed. He also added every person has right to life and right to health which need to be safeguarded.
He further said that the legal professionals and other concerned officers are key actors of the law and have responsibility to safeguard the right and safety of people guaranteed by the Constitution.
Advocate, Mehmood Pracha deliberated upon the overview and salient features of the Food Safety and Standards Act, through a detailed PowerPoint presentation on the occasion.
